Abstract

With development of new equipment like mobile phones and pod-casting system, museums now have bigger capability to provide extensive out-reach programs. Being a research institute of Keio University, Tokyo, we have wide range of human and technical resources in various disciplines in order to conduct a collaborative experiment with museums within the vicinity.

To demonstrate such capabilities, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce an experiment of "delivering" an exhibition from a museum to children's hospital and retirement homes using a pod-casting system.

For many years, we spent hours thinking about how to bring technologies into museums and libraries so that we can be more service to the society. But we may now be facing a new era when we can bring museum content in a more direct and lively form quite easily into the real world. This newly achieved flexibility will present a possibility of improving life of individuals with restricted mobility in hospitals and under certain circumstances.
